Our
most favorite thing at Rideau River Provincial Park were the
frogs! Our kids loved walking through the swamp
catching them (and putting them back). There is a nice
trail along the shoreline, where you can see Canada Geese,
an otter, and many many frogs. We saw lots of birds
too. A great spot to go for
the weekend!
The campsites at Rideau are
mostly in rows, and not very private, but the showers and
ammenities were clean and in great shape. The beach is
long and spacious, (the water tends to be a bit dirty) but
if that doesn't scare you, it's fun to go with a family or
for first time camping. There's a couple of
playgrounds for the kids - one near the beach and another
adjacent to the row of campsites numbered 159 - 174..
In our
family, the adults say it ain't their favorite campground,
but the kids say it's their favorite!! And when you
just want to get away it's a nice place to retreat to.
Some
of our favorite campsites were: 159 to 174, 146 to 158 and
111 to 124
