Fitzroy Harbour is a nice little park
where you feel like your miles away from the city.
Apart from the dam which is a bit of an eye sore from the
beach, it is a really nice family park. Great for
weekend getaways from the city and a nice playground for the
kids.
The Prime sites off the water
are really spectacular in size and view, as well several
other sites are really great. The campsites along the
main roads are really small and wide open, but there are a
few campsites right off the beach which are really
convenient if you have a pop-up trailer or independent
children who like to go to the beach alone. We didn't
go to the main beach since it was under renovation at the
time we visited the park, so there's alot of the park we
haven't seen yet.
I remember
the showers being decent and clean, and the restroom was
good. The outhouses were not well kept. The Park Store
was well stocked with supplies and souvenirs.
We will be going to Fitzroy again at the
end of summer of 2002. I'll post an update on the park
at that time.
Some of our favorite campsites were: 278,
276, 275, 283, 288, 241, 242, 239, 240, 226, 224, 232, 230,
229, 231, 213, 253, 251, 246
*we like spacious, treed, and private sites
